About Me

Hello. My name is Adam Candler, an enlisted member of the U.S. Army Reserve and former first-year law student at the University of Wisconsin Law School. It so happened that after completing my Army training and moving to Madison, WI, to begin my professional education, I was simultaneously struck by personal, medical, and financial difficulties. The end result was that I withdrew from classes and returned to the job I held as an undergraduate at a grocery store in Ripon, WI--nearly 100 miles from where I lived in Madison.

Clearly that situation couldn't persist for long. I applied for many jobs--the City of Madison Police Department foremost among them--but was rejected everywhere I offered my services. And the money I earned at the grocery store hardly covered my food, gas, and living costs. So, finally, I made the decision to move back home to Northwest Wisconsin, a place in which I hadn't spent much time for the previous five years.

But I didn't leave Madison without having learned something valuable. While on lunch break at the grocery store one day, a female co-worker asked me where I was from and so I told her.

"Really?" she responded. "You haven't ever been to the St. Croix Casino in Turtle Lake, have you?"

I paused for a second, then chuckled to myself. "Yes," I answered. "In fact, I used to work there. My sister still runs the dining room."

The lady laughed with joy. It turned out that she and her husband had stumbled upon the casino while on their way back from Minnesota and they loved it so much that they returned several times.

"My husband even wants to retire there," she added, referring to all of Northwest Wisconsin.

Driving home from Madison that day, I certainly remembered why. There's something gorgeous about the way the fields in Wisconsin's Great Northwest fall atop the rolling hills like blankets, the way they snug up against the treelines as if pillows. I was glad not only that I had a connection necessary to earn my co-worker and her husband cheaper meals during their next trip to the St. Croix Casino, but also that i had planned them an exciting new vacation, opening doors they may have never knocked upon so soon and leading them to places of which they might have never known. And all of this came nearby and at a very cheap rate. Having planned one couple's vacation, I was thereafter inspired.

So if you ask who I am and why I started this business, my answer is as follows: (1)I am not only an entrepreneur, but also a diligent young man who has seen his share of troubles; and (2) I have established Northwest Vacationing not only with the hope to make a profit, but also to showcase a region that I have always loved.

Thank you for your interest in my product and may your off-days always be relaxing.

Sincerely,

Adam Candler
